Jingxi History
Food Guide

Getting hungry? Whether you want to dine out in a restaurant, or sample some locals favorites out on the streets, Jingxi is packed full of delicious yet affordable options. Meals range from 3 RMB for a bowl of noodles to 20 RMB at some of the nicest eating establishments.

With few exceptions, menus are written in Chinese. In the future we hope to have a downloadable Chinese-English food translation guide to ease your ordering process. For now, we are including the Chinese pinyin pronunciation of various dishes in parentheses.

Jingxi Hotel Restaurant (Jingxi Dajiudian)
Arguably the nicest meal in Jingxi, this restaurant on the second floor of the Jingxi Hotel offers mostly standard Chinese dishes, with a few local favorites. Try their Coca-Cola Ribs (Kele Paigu), Sweet and Sour Pork (Tangcu Liji), or Stuffed Pumpkin Flowers (Niang Nan-guahua), pictured at right.

City Center Hotel Restaurant (Chengzhong Dajiudian)
Located across the street from the City Center Hotel, this four-story restaurant has some notable dishes, like the French Fries (Zha Tudousi) and a local favorite, Fried Bamboo Worms (Zha Zhu Chong) pictured at right.

Guilin Guy Restaurant (Guilin Zai)
This restaurant specializes in dishes from the county of Guilin. Be sure to try a bowl of Guilin Noodles (Guilin Mifen) pictured at right, and their Lotus Meatballs (Lian Ou Wan). We also suggest the Egg Dumplings (Danjiao) and the Candied Taro (Basi Yutou).

Jingxi Dumpling Restaurant (Jingxi Mijiaodian)
It may not look like much from the outside, but this restaurant does one thing and does it well... Jingxi's own special steamed rice dumpling filled with pork and chopped mushrooms and served in a delicious sweet and sour sauce. Yum!

Main Outdoor Market (Nongmao Shichang)
For yet another unique food experience, don't miss the main outdoor food market in Jingxi. You'll see all kinds of vegetables, meat, and live animals, and there are plenty of stalls around the perimeter where you can get a quick meal.
